I
was born and raised in the little fishing
village
of Jonesport, on the coast of Maine. My true
love
has always been sewing and I am a self taught
seamstress. I started sewing at the age of 14. I
enjoy creating and designing new items. It gives
me much pleasure that my customers appreciate
my work.
Besides sewing, I am a self taught artist with
acrylic
as my
medium . Since 1998 I have painted the
ordinary, the dilapidated, and the disappearing
in an effort to preserve important history for
local
residents and visitors of the Jonesport/ Beals
Island
area. One person describes my paintings with a
mix of folk art charm and a color pallet
reminiscent
of Van Gogh's "Starry Night". Prints from my
originals are offered on note cards, matted and
un-matted prints, custom made tote bags,
laminated
magnets,
coasters, Place mats and book markers.
I also have paintings that are not duplicated.
This
was a hidden talent of mine for 47 years and I
receive
much pleasure from my art work accomplishments.
